Contributions and legacy of ancient india
Ancient India made many important contributions to modern day India. They created a game like the chess we know today. Their version was a type of war game that was played with dice and pawns. This game obviously evolved over time because we do not use dice in chess today. Ancient Indians also created an intricate sewage system that worked like this. Their waste was carried away by a sewer system which is a network of pipes that disposes of wastes or water. In the days of Mohenjodaro the pipes were made of clay and the waste was emptied into the Indus River. This sewer system is similar to ours, but much more primitive. They also developed a religion called Hinduism that has stayed in the culture for centuries. “Hinduism is the main religion of India which includes the worship of many gods and the belief that after you die you return to life in a different form.” (merriam-webster dictionary) Another religion developed by the Ancient Indians that is still used today is Buddhism. Buddhism is “a religion of eastern and central Asia growing out of the teaching of Gautama Buddha that suffering is inherent in life and that one can be liberated from it by mental and moral self-purification.” (merriam-webster dictionary) The Ancient Indians made all these contributions and more, leaving a legacy that impacted many civilizations to come.
